White Pine Blister Rust Pruning

What it is
Removing live lower branches from white pine does two things: it increases airflow through the stand, which slows the spread of white pine blister rust, and it grows valuable knot-free wood.
Eligibility
White pine is the dominant crop tree on the area, whether it was planted or came in naturally.
Standards and assessment

| Slash | Pruned branches may be left on site |
Damage limit. If more than 5% of the residual stems are damaged, the treated area is not eligible for incentive payment. Damage means bark damage that exposes more than 1 cm² of sapwood.
