Road Deactivation

What it is
Deactivation leaves a forest road in a stable state, so it keeps preventing erosion and sedimentation indefinitely after use ends.
Standards and assessment
| Step | Standard |

| Temporary infrastructure | Remove it — for example, single-span bridges |
| Warnings | Install proper signage and berms on both sides of the hazard, so users know the road is deactivated |
| Drainage | Leave the road surface, cross drains and ditches in a state that mimics natural drainage patterns |
Building temporary crossings in the first place makes deactivation simpler.
