What it is

Road fill is transported shale or rock used to increase a road’s bearing capacity. It applies to any road class, in three situations:

Standards and assessment

Planning the volume. Work out the fill volume as part of the road specifications. It is prescribed, then used either during construction or up to the end of the next construction season after the road is first built.

What counts toward the volume. Only sections that meet all three of these tests:
